The Translational Research Unit – Infectious Diseases (TRU-ID) within the Department for Clinical Infectious Diseases is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories for working with infectious agents. Our research aims to gain a better immunological understanding of infectious diseases and to develop innovative therapies for the treatment of serious bacterial infections. Supported by our close network of partners within the University of Cologne and our national and international collaborators, we are aiming to advance these innovative therapeutic concepts toward clinical application. Our research is funded by the German Center for Infection Research, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the German Research Foundation, and the European Union, among others.
As part of these studies, you will play a central role in the collection and processing of clinical biosamples. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and conducting sample collection from clinical studies, ensuring proper documentation and handling, and performing immunological assays to evaluate novel therapeutic approaches. You will work in close collaboration with scientific, clinical, and technical colleagues to maintain an efficient workflow between the clinic and the laboratory, thereby directly contributing to the success of translational research.
