Your future in detail

We are one of the leading University Hospitals in Germany, combining research, teaching, and patient care at the highest level.
The Department of Neurology is one of the largest neurological clinics in the country. In addition to patient care, the research of neurologicaldisorders is a top priority. The research environment in Cologne has continuously expanded in recent years. The research focus on Neuromodulation is dedicated by the Medical Faculty to investigating and developing innovative preventive and therapeutic approaches for neurological and psychiatric disorders.
The research group for Movement Disorders and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) (Prof. Michael Barbe) focuses on studying the therapeutic effects of DBS. A particular emphasis is placed on speech motor control in patients with Parkinson’s disease. The group collaborates locally with the Institute of Linguistic/Phonetics (Prof. Doris Mücke) and internationally with the Laboratoire Parole et Langage (LPL) in Aix-en-Provence (Prof. Serge Pinto). Together with our French colleagues, we have successfully
acquired third-party funding within a DFG-ANR project. Over the course of three years, this interdisciplinary project will investigate the role of the basal ganglia in speech perception. The planned experiments will take place as part of the collaboration both in Germany and in France.

People with disabilities are welcome to apply and will be treated preferentially in the event of equal suitability and qualification. The position is suitable for staffing with part-time employees.
